Lady Gaga In ‘Vogue’: ‘She Showed Up Completely Naked…’

66 Views | November 13th, 2009

(Credit: Annie Leibovitz/ Vogue) Lady Gaga is featured in a compelling “Hansel and Gretel”-inspired photo shoot in the December Arts issue of Vogue . Gaga plays the witch — a Marc Jacobs-wearing witch — who lures in actor Andrew Garfield and model Lily Cole who play the story’s main characters. But there was just as much action behind the lens — Annie Leibovitz’s lens — as there was in front of the camera.

Rock Albums U2, Sayhi And Alternate Routes

279 Views | April 18th, 2009
Jack Yang asked: The new rock albums of 2009 are the ultimate distraction from the economic downturn. The Guitar Solo And Rock And Roll

270 Views | April 16th, 2009
Victor Epand asked: The image of a lead electric guitarist rocking out on a solo is probably one of the most ubiquitous images associated with the rock and roll industry. Whether you associate rock guitar solos with the afros, fringe and political turmoil of Jimi Hendrix’s age or the spandex, makeup and general debauchery of the 1980s, these musical masterpieces are undeniably part of the American rock and roll heritage. Of course, guitar solos can be and are used in any kind of music, and genres like jazz, swing and blues regularly make use of them. But ... Read more »

How The Diy Ethic Of Punk Rock Influenced Indie Record Labels

249 Views | April 12th, 2009
Christina Pomoni asked: In the mid 70s, punk music emerged in the UK as a social and cultural phenomenon. Reflecting the hopelessness of an uncompromisingly modern, young audience with a common revolutionary mentality, punk music articulated political views, opposition and controversy as a response to the over-romanticizing of flower-power rock of the early 70s. Moreover, punk rock music was the means for the colossal social attack on the British monarchy and nationalism. Being exceedingly irritated by the British system and highly-politicized, UK Punk groups influenced a whole generation with their effortlessly contagious outbreak of violence and impassiveness ...
